Vaccine pricing depends on the pet's age (whether a series is needed) and lifestyle. We offer many vaccines, and we will need to discuss several factors with you to determine which are best for your pet. Please give us a call at (209) 575-0100 or stop by to visit us.
6. My pet needs "x," or "x" is wrong with my pet. How much does that cost?
To help, we would need our doctor to perform an exam to determine the cause of the problem and the best treatment. An exam is $55.00. After examining your pet, the doctor will discuss what is going on with your pet and give you their recommendations. A technician will then go over all your options and the exact costs, so there are no surprises.
7. At what age should I have my pet spayed or neutered?
Spaying or neutering can be done at approximately 6 months of age, but this timing may also change based on your pet's size, breed, and lifestyle needs. Your pet is examined prior to surgery to ensure that he/she is healthy enough to undergo the surgical procedure. Current vaccinations are required at the time of surgery. In addition, a pre-anesthetic blood screen is recommended prior to undergoing anesthesia and surgery.
8. Who qualifies for the low-cost spay and neuter program?
This program is exclusively for cats. However, we do periodically offer special discounts and promotions for dogs as well.
9. What is the pre-anesthetic blood screening?
A pre-anesthetic blood screen comprises blood tests that are performed in the clinic prior to surgery. It tests your pet's organ function, blood counts, and electrolyte levels. The pre-anesthetic blood screen is performed to ensure safety during surgery and to assess the ability to heal following surgery. It is recommended for all patients, but mandatory for those aged 7+.
10. How long do the stitches stay in after my pet's surgery?
In most cases, sutures must be removed 10-14 days following the surgery.
11. Is it a good idea to let my pet have at least one litter?
No, there is no advantage to letting your pet have a litter. However, there are many advantages to spaying or neutering your pet. These advantages include reducing your pet's desire to roam the neighborhood, helping prevent spraying and marking, and reducing the number of unwanted puppies and kittens. In addition, having your pet spayed or neutered can help to decrease the chances later in life of developing breast tumors, cystic ovaries and uterine infections, and prostate cancer.
